House of Ferrah Couture Fashion Week 2011

House of Ferrah presented a very festive collection with concentration on only three colors: black, gold and red. It felt a little bit like christmas to me. A lot of gowns were tight on top and puffy towards the floor which we saw also with the previous designers. Some of the shorter dresses were wavy on the buttom. Compared to the other three shows before I would say that this collection was more on the classy side.

Berrys Couture on Couture Fashion Week 2011

Berrys Couture show started with some African music and I felt transfered into the rainforest for a moment. Very interesting and diverse collection. I saw a lot of balloon skirts, lots of caro pattern, a mix of gowns, cocktail dresses, pants, skirts, all colors, really everybody could find something to like. And even (like my son called it who joined me this time at the fashion show and actually gave quite some good feedback) a strawberry dress :) Very cute like out of a fairy tale and then with some other dresses I felt like beemed up from Scotty into space. Check out the pictures and see yourself:

This is the 'strawberry dress' as my son named it.

Scotty, beem me up

Ups, this was a little too much exposure but I guess, it is supposed to be that way.

House of Jola - Couture Fashion Week 2011

The second show I saw at Couture Fashion week was from designer Joan Okorodudu aka House of Jola from Nigeria. Joan was Miss Nigeria Kaduna zone and Miss Nigera 1st runner in 1981 next to being a designer. Definitely a VERY colorful collection. We could see a lot of summery colors like pink, green, yellor, purple, orange and many more with a lot of quillings, sequined fabrics with different patterns, long and short dresses, very intersting. Sometimes I felt like back in the old times in New Orleans with the style of long dresses. What was weird though that the three male models she had were simply dressed in jeans and a summer shirt and running around with a paper bag. I did not really get what that was supposed to mean but anyway. Have a look yourself.

I saw some really crazy shoes (see on my Facebook site). Amazing creativity. Unfortunately, one pair was really difficult to walk on the model actually almost fell. Poor thing.

Designer Reedas' 2011 Fall Collection at Couture Fashion Week

Today, I attended Couture Fashion Week to see four beautiful designers from Nigeria. I was very curious to see their style of fashion. The show started with a live performance by singer Angeles Dominguez who has a beautiful voice. The first fashion show was presented by designer Reedas. She showed a very colorful collection with all different kind of fabrics like satin, chiffon, crep and many more and definitely a lot of quillings. Most of the gowns were very figure emphazised and even though all colors were lined up the designer chose mostly only two for each design. Have a look.

Alisha Trimble Fashion Show

I attended the Alisha Trimble Fashion Show on Thursday. The theme for the hair and make-up of the models was animal style. We saw some 'horns' and wild eyes beautifully done by Make-up artist Wenya Chang who did a lot of fashion shows this week and is also an artist at Fuse TV. Alisha brought out a nice mix of short and long dresses, hip and elegant. You can say anybody can find her favorite outfit here.

I had a nice conversation with this gentleman whose style I really admired and had to take a picture. He even gifted me a bracelet that he just purchased that same day. How nice is that? We just met.

Michael Kors Fashion Show

The video of Michael Kors fashion show was posted today by Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week on Facebook and I have to say I really really liked Michael's collection. You see a lot of long dresses for the women in colors like black, brown and beige with some nice visable effects on the back and the men are wearing long coats with turtle necks underneath. Very chic and elegant collection, totally my style, I love it.

Narciso Rodriguez Fashion Show

Wow, I just saw the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week clip of Narciso's show and those coats are just breathtaking. I love his style. He actually designs clothes that you can wear. Michelle Obama showed good taste by choosing him as one of her favorite designers. I have to admit that I first learned about him by his Perfum line a couple of years ago. It's my favorite perfum. To see the show go on Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week page on Facebook and see the clip.

Quintessentially & Saks Fifths Avenue Fashion Show

This was an exclusive invite/member only event. A membership at Quintessentially is around $5,000 per year, so not too bad. I was invited as a VIP guest from Sarar store owner Tunch Hepguler who concentrates on men business clothing. Saks Fifths Avenue was presenting some very nice pieces of their spring and summer collection. We saw Diane von Fuerstenberg, Dior, and many more. The show started with a real eyecatcher. This orange silk outfit was just stunning and one of my favorites as it is my favorite color. It can get a little overwhelming with the color but you are guaranteed the attention.
Another dress that caught my attention was this blue silk dress which you can wear day and night. Just beautiful.
There was a lot of chiffon dresses with a palette of different colors. The men outfits were very casual with jeans, shirt and blazer. I love when you put some accessories on men like hats. See this outfit:

The most attention definitely got this outfit though. You have to be very couragous to wear this but it looked stunning on this model. What a great color and definitely a 'WOW' effect
Other than that we saw the never going out of fashion classic trench coats and high waist pants are in again. For more pictures please check my Facebook page I-dress You-impress or click on this link http://www.facebook.com/photos.php?id=100002038614690#!/album.php?aid=16690&id=100002038614690

Ela Acosta K-12 Collection

Wow, this was a very interesting fashion show and one of them where you do not see a single outfit that you could actually wear. But, it was very entertaining. I saw breasts, transparent buttoms without any underwear underneath. I would say, Ela is definitely very creative and couragous with her style. She uses a lot of plasticlike and spandex material, even some metals and steel. Most of her colors were black, white, grey and silver with one turquoise and purple outfit. We saw very long but also very short dresses. Have a look yourself.

JSong Way Fall 2011 Fashion Show

With the beginning of NY Fashion Week last week my first show I attended was the JSong Way Fall 2011 show on Wednesday. I did see some of her pieces at the fashion show the Saturday before at the AsianinNY event and fell in love with the colors and designs she uses. On Wednesday she surpised me even more with her fall collection. Again, a lot of colors like yellow, pink, red, purple and more. Everything has been presented, from the classic business suit to wear in the office to this beautiful red chiffon pleated dress to wear at night. Way Zen (the designer) loves the florals as you could see on this fabulous yellow coat (one of my favorite pieces of the show) and the white coat she was wearing herself. Check out the pictures on my facebook page. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?id=100002038614690&aid=15186#!/album.php?id=100002038614690&aid=15186#!/photo.php?fbid=109211935823426&set=a.109211075823512.15186.100002038614690&theater

What brought me to blog

With fashion week going on now in New York I have been visiting a lot of fashion shows already. It has been very exciting to see so much creativity. I am always looking for a new look and get new ideas for my clients and myself. A friend of mine is a Public Relations person and got me into some of the shows and asked if I could write a little report about it. I said: "Sure, why not". I heard about blogging, bloggers, blogs, etc. so much already but never even looked at any of these or tried so I figured now is the time to do so and even start my own. I love it :) Back in school I loved the part where we had to invent stories and write. I was always very good at it, at least, that's what the teacher said. Back then I was thinking of studying Journalism but ended up in banking, yes, right, BANKING. Nobody, who meets me, would ever expect me in banking. Due to my dress style and appearance I get immediately: fashion, TV, even Model which is always funny to me because I am only a 5'5 little person :). Anyways, they are not too wrong when they say fashion because that is second profession and my goal is it to make it my ONLY profession. So, let's see, how this blogging thing turns out. I hope you'll like it :)

Introduction

Hi,

My name is Isabell de Wit and I am 30 years old. Growing up in Europe with a mother who was a designer I experienced my passion and talent for fashion at a very young age. I moved to New York beginning of 2008. A lot of people on the streets stopped mer to tell me what a great style I have and that was when I decided to become a Personal Stylist/Shopper. Now, I style at Fashion Shows and for Private Clients and I am also a single mother of a 7 year old beautiful son. He is my world. I work with clients who want to change their appearance and get a complete new image make-over or just find the right dress/suit for this special occasion. And that is where I come in. There are many stylists out there but only a few have 'it' and I have 'it.' I can transform a 'wall flower' into a beautiful butterfly or make gorgeous people even look prettier and more stylish. In a city like Manhattan it is even more important to look great and stand out of the crowd. I am in my element by choosing the right outfits for the right people and love it to get my clients excited and happy with their new look. The biggest compliment I can get is when my clients call me later to tell me about the positive responses they got on their new looks. That puts a big smile on my face and gives me the final satisfaction.

I have been on German TV with my styling business and work with a lot of international clients.
